Nike Grind

Since September of 2000, Nike, Inc. and Atlas Tracks, Inc (dba Atlas Track & Tennis) have partnered to form a strategic alliance that produces high quality, cost-effective and environmentally responsible synthetic running tracks.

Through the partnership, Nike supplies Atlas with Nike Grind. Nike Grind is a product of Nike's successful Reuse-A-Shoe program. This program recycles old shoes, any brand, into Nike Grind. Atlas then incorporates Nike Grind into our innovative all-weather track surfaces.

The strategic alliance fulfills mutual commitments to the environment and continues Atlas' use of post-consumer products. Working together, Nike Inc., and Atlas Track & Tennis have a positive effect on the environment by diverting waste that would normally go into a landfill.

Proceeds from the sale of all Atlas Track & Tennis products that utilize Nike Grind will be donated to fund the construction of running tracks in underserved communities.

NikeGrind is a product of Nike's Reuse-A-Shoe program which recycles athletic shoes into innovative Atlas sport surfaces.

- A single running track uses the equivalent of 75,000 recycled tennis shoes.
- A single tennis court or basketball court uses approximately 2, 500 recycled shoes.
- Atlas’ track, tennis and basketball surfaces use the equivalent of 55,000 pounds of recycled tennis shoes each year.
- The Atlas and Nike partnership has helped to recycle over 20 million tennis shoes.
- Atlas uses approximately 10 million pounds of recycled rubber every year and helps keep 278,000 tires from entering landfills each year.
