Atlas is a licensed and bonded general contracting company operating in the specialty sports surfacing industry. Our surfaces are installed on running tracks and tennis courts at high schools, colleges and universities, and at public and private facilities. Our experienced crews have installed more than 2,000 running tracks and 3,000 tennis courts.
In addition to running track and tennis court surfaces, Atlas also offers FieldTurf synthetic turf, Tarkett flooring, fencing and a variety of construction services related to the design and installation of sports surfaces.
Atlas was formed by Floyd Fisher in 1957 and incorporated in 1966 in Portland, Oregon. The company’s original focus was retail sales in the garden and landscaping industry along with a landscape contracting division. In 1978 the corporation name was changed from Scotty’s Garden Supply, Inc., to Atlas Tracks, Inc. Mr. Fisher then reorganized Atlas Tracks, Inc. to devote its attention entirely to the construction of the Atlas Classic running track surface for installation at high schools, colleges and universities across the USA.
In 1989, Atlas acquired a local sports surfacing company. This gave Atlas the capability of installing a greater variety of sport surfaces, including tennis courts. With that purchase, Atlas Tracks, Inc. also became known as Atlas Track & Tennis. Under the direction of Floyd Fisher Atlas Track & Tennis relocated its corporate office in Tualatin, Oregon in 1992.
George Fisher has been President of Atlas since 1994 and remains so today. He remains active in all phases of the business including: product development, sales and installation. Atlas operates on the strength of a professional team of sales staff and installers with more than 500 cumulative years of experience.
In 2009, Atlas was purchased by the world’s largest entity in the sports and landscape surfacing industries, Tarkett Sports. This purchase will increase Atlas’ ability to expand into new markets while providing the same high quality products and industry leading service.
